Elephants are no match for AK47s | African Wildlife Foundation

African Wildlife Foundation
He Can't Defend Himself Against Poachers
So we're sending in the dogs
Andrea,

I'll let you in on a secret: saving wildlife is fun.

It's not just the satisfaction of catching wildlife criminals and seeing their shocked faces when their grisly contraband is discovered. Or the pleasure of knowing we've stopped them from profiting off of wildlife crime.

Nope. I'm talking about the pride of seeing our highly trained and amazingly accurate dogs at work. But I need your help today to deploy more sniffer dogs to shut down more smuggling operations.

Elephants are being slaughtered faster than they reproduce. Rhinos are killed daily for their horns. And now lion bones are coveted as black market medicine. We need to act fast.
Unleash their wildlife saving power
Our dogs and their devoted handlers are on the ground everyday upending wildlife crime. Here's evidence of our success so far:
  •  Traffickers are giving up on trying to get ivory and rhino horn out of Kenya because they can't get past our dogs
  •  The Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority has our dog teams on patrol in towns and villages – disrupting ivory deals in key markets.
  •  In Uganda, our canine detection units uncovered 99 finds, helped make 93 arrests and secured 32 convictions in their first year.
If you're wondering if we can save wildlife, the answer is yes – but only if you help us with your urgent gift now.

P.S. Because you're a trusted friend, I'll let you in on one more secret. We're working to get dog teams into Mozambique and Botswana where poachers are moving their smuggling operations to avoid our other patrols. Don't let them get away with it.
